Everything Coming to Netflix in April 2026 — The Complete Guide

April 2026 might be the strongest Netflix month of the year so far. Beef is back with Oscar Isaac. Stranger Things gets an animated spinoff. Charlize Theron hunts people for sport. And the April 1st catalog dump includes Mission: Impossible, Bohemian Rhapsody, Casino, and the entire Madagascar trilogy. Here's everything worth watching — and our honest take on all of it.

The Big Ones

Beef Season 2 poster

Beef Season 2 (April 16) — The Emmy-sweeping anthology returns with an entirely new cast. Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan lead a feud that starts at a country club and spirals from there. Season 1 was one of the best things Netflix has ever made. If this is even close, it's the show of the month.

Stranger Things Tales From 85 poster

Stranger Things: Tales From '85 (April 23) — An animated spinoff set in winter 1985, following the Hawkins gang through a new paranormal mystery. Could be a nostalgia cash-grab. Could be genuinely great. The fact that it's animation means they can go places the live-action show couldn't.

Apex movie poster

Apex (April 24) — Charlize Theron in a human-hunting competition where the prey fights back. It's The Most Dangerous Game with a budget and a movie star who proved with Mad Max: Fury Road that she can anchor action better than most of Hollywood.

Bugonia movie poster

Bugonia (April 26) — Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons reunite with Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things, The Favourite) for a sci-fi dark comedy about two guys who kidnap a CEO because they're convinced she's an alien planning to destroy Earth. Lanthimos doesn't miss, and this cast is ridiculous.

Merrily We Roll Along poster

Merrily We Roll Along (April 4) — Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff in the filmed version of the Tony-winning Broadway revival. Stephen Sondheim's musical told in reverse chronological order. If you missed it on stage, this is the next best thing.

Man on Fire series poster

Man on Fire (April 30) — Not the 2004 Denzel movie (though that's a classic). This is a new series with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II based on the same source novel. If the show captures even half the intensity of the film, it'll be worth your time.

The April 1st Catalog Dump

Netflix went hard on April 1st. This is an absurd amount of quality hitting the library in one day:

  • Mission: Impossible 1-5 — The entire original run from the 1996 classic through Rogue Nation. Five movies, increasingly insane stunts, Tom Cruise refusing to age. A perfect weekend marathon.
  • Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) — Rami Malek's Oscar-winning turn as Freddie Mercury. The Live Aid sequence alone is worth a rewatch. 8.0 IMDb.
  • Casino (1995) — Scorsese, De Niro, Pesci, Sharon Stone. The Vegas crime epic returns to Netflix after leaving in March. 8.2 IMDb. Three hours that fly by.
  • Along Came Polly (2004) — Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston. Light, dumb fun. The basketball scene with Philip Seymour Hoffman is an all-timer.
  • Atonement (2007) — Keira Knightley, James McAvoy. Beautiful, devastating, that tracking shot on the beach. 87% on RT.
  • Everest (2015) — Based on the 1996 disaster. Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke. Harrowing survival drama that'll make you never want to climb anything.
  • Madagascar 1-3 — The complete trilogy. Alex the Lion and friends escape the Central Park Zoo and end up in Africa, then Europe. Perfect for family movie nights.
  • Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) — Dracula trains his half-human grandson to be a vampire. Kids love it. Adults tolerate it.
  • The Wiz (1978) — Diana Ross and Michael Jackson in the soulful Wizard of Oz reimagining. A cultural landmark that doesn't get enough love.
  • Smokey and the Bandit I & II — Burt Reynolds at his most Burt Reynolds. High-speed Southern charm that defined an era.
  • St. Denis Medical Season 1 — NBC's mockumentary medical sitcom arrives on Netflix. Think Scrubs meets The Office. Surprisingly funny.
  • Money Talks (1997) — Chris Tucker and Charlie Sheen. Pure '90s energy. Tucker at his most motor-mouthed.
  • Penguins of Madagascar (2014) — The spy penguins get their own movie. Benedict Cumberbatch voices a wolf. John Malkovich voices an octopus. It's exactly as weird as it sounds.

New Netflix Originals

XO, Kitty Season 3 (April 2) — Kitty Song Covey returns to Seoul for senior year. YA romance that knows exactly what it is. If you're already watching, you're already watching.

Bloodhounds Season 2 (April 3) — The hard-hitting Korean action series returns. Young boxers turned vigilantes vs. an even nastier criminal organization. Season 1 was one of the best Korean dramas on Netflix — underseen and underrated.

Running Point Season 2 (April 23) — Kate Hudson runs a basketball team. The first season was a solid workplace comedy with sports flavor. If you liked Ted Lasso's behind-the-scenes energy, give this a shot.

Dorohedoro Season 2 (April 1, weekly) — One of the weirdest, most creative anime series on the platform. A man with a lizard head, sorcerers, gyoza, and extreme violence. Not for everyone. Perfect for the right audience.

Thrash (April 10) — A Category 5 hurricane brings sharks into a coastal town. Yes, it's basically Sharknado with a Netflix budget. No, that's not a bad thing.

Theatrical Hits and Movies Worth Watching

  • Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (April 5) — Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan. The surprise hit that proved video game Jumanji could work. 76% on RT.
  • A Quiet Place Part II (April 11) — Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy. The Abbotts venture beyond their home and discover the world is somehow worse than they thought. Tense, well-directed, better than most sequels.
  • Scream (April 10) — The 2022 legacy sequel that brought Ghostface back right. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera alongside the original trio. 7.6 on IMDb.
  • Halloween Ends (April 13) — Jamie Lee Curtis vs. Michael Myers, one last time. Divisive among fans but undeniably the end of an era.
  • IF (April 9) — Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski's imaginary friends movie. Heartwarming family film that works better than you'd expect. Kids will love it.
  • Beast (April 7) — Idris Elba vs. a lion. That's the pitch. That's the movie. It works.
  • Denial (April 18) — Rachel Weisz in the true story of proving the Holocaust happened in a British courtroom. Timely, powerful, 80% on RT.

The Documentaries

  • Untold: Chess Mates (April 7) — The Magnus Carlsen vs. Hans Niemann cheating scandal. If you followed this in 2022, you know how wild it got. Perfect Untold material.
  • A Gorilla Story: Told By David Attenborough (April 17) — David Attenborough narrating gorillas. You don't need a review. You're going to watch it.
  • Ronaldinho: The One and Only (April 16) — The Brazilian soccer legend gets the documentary treatment just in time for the World Cup. Peak Ronaldinho was magic in human form.
  • The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson (April 3) — True-crime doc about the murdered pro cyclist. The team behind Keep Sweet: Pray & Obey.
  • Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool (April 22) — Behind-the-scenes with the Grammy-winning country star. If you caught her Yellowstone arc, you're already interested.

Also Worth a Look

  • Happy's Place Season 1 (April 1) — Reba McEntire inherits a tavern and discovers a half-sister. NBC sitcom comfort food.
  • Love on the Spectrum Season 4 (April 1) — The most wholesome show on Netflix returns. Reality dating done right.
  • Big Mistakes Season 1 (April 9) — Dan Levy's new series. Whatever it is, it has our attention.
  • This Is a Gardening Show (April 22) — Zach Galifianakis does gardening TV. The title alone tells you the vibe.
  • 18th Rose (April 9) — Filipino rom-com set in the early 2000s. Netflix's Filipino content has been quietly excellent.
  • Agent from Above (April 2) — Taiwanese fantasy action about a criminal-turned-spirit-medium fighting demons. If you liked The Uncanny Counter, give this a try.

The Bottom Line

April 2026 is genuinely excellent. The catalog additions alone — Mission: Impossible, Bohemian Rhapsody, Casino, Jumanji, A Quiet Place Part II — would make for a strong month. But Netflix is also bringing its A-game with originals: Beef Season 2 is the prestige event, Stranger Things: Tales From '85 is the nostalgia play, and Bugonia is the wildcard that could end up being the best thing on the list.
