A celebration of the ancient art of Japanese rakugo, roughly translated as “comic storytelling”. The film is interspersed with numerous funerals and wakes, songs, dances, and often disgustingly crude jokes.

The rhythmic, ribald world of traditional rakugo storytelling clashes sharply against the somber stillness of endless funerals and wakes. This chaotic collision of crude jokes and mourning creates a uniquely vibrant portrait of life's absurd contradictions.
