About
You can watch Blind Mountain (2007) on Kanopy with a participating library card.
Young student Bai Xuemei is cheated and sold as a wife by human traffickers to a remote village. Raped and beaten, she leads the life of a sex slave and child-bearer with no hope of escape because of the villagers apathy and selfishness.
A harrowing portrayal of survival radiates from a young woman trapped in a brutal cycle of domestic servitude and isolation. This unflinching look at rural human trafficking strips away any cinematic comfort to expose the crushing weight of communal complicity.
