About
You can watch Raintree County (1957) on Hoopla with a participating library card.
In 1859, idealist John Wickliff Shawnessey, a resident of Raintree County, Indiana, is distracted from his high school sweetheart Nell Gaither by Susanna Drake, a rich New Orleans girl. This love triangle is further complicated by the American Civil War, and dark family history.
This sweeping epic swaps typical battlefield heroics for a messy, decades-long tug-of-war between duty and desire. Instead of simple romance, you get a sprawling portrait of how personal obsession survives the chaos of the American Civil War.
