During the Nazi occupation of 1944 Rome, Resistance leader Giorgio Manfredi is pursued by the Nazis as he seeks refuge and a means of escape.
The suffocating pressure of Nazi occupation turns every cobblestone street in Rome into a potential trap for the underground resistance. This raw piece of neorealism captures the frantic, heartbeat-fast rhythm of survival through handheld cameras and unvarnished human desperation.
