About
The only son of wealthy widow Violet Venable dies while on vacation with his cousin Catherine. What the girl saw was so horrible that she went insane; now Mrs. Venable wants Catherine lobotomized to cover up the truth.
This psychological thriller trades traditional suspense for a suffocating clash between a repressive matriarch and a traumatized girl. Instead of a whodunit, the tension builds through the terrifying possibility that the truth is being surgically erased.
