About

After the Japanese defeat to the Russians, Kaji leads the last remaining men through Manchuria. Intent on returning to his old life, he faces great odds in a variety of different harrowing circumstances as he and his men sneak behind enemy lines.
While most war films focus on the heat of combat, this grueling epic prioritizes the crushing psychological weight of survival in a frozen wasteland. Kaji's desperate trek through Manchuria strips away every shred of idealism, leaving only a raw struggle to maintain humanity amidst total collapse.
