About
You can stream The Place Promised in Our Early Days (2004) on Max with a subscription, rent on Apple TV+, or buy on Apple TV+.
In a post-war alternative timeline, Japan is divided into the North, controlled by the Union, and the South, controlled by the United States. A mysterious high tower rises within the borders of the Union. Three high school students promise to cross the border with a self-built airplane and unravel the secret of the tower.
This cel-shaded landscape trades typical anime tropes for a quiet, melancholic meditation on friendship and fractured borders. Instead of explosive action, the tension builds through the mechanical hum of a makeshift plane and the looming shadow of an impossible tower.
