About
You can watch The Producers (1968) on Kanopy with a participating library card.
A conniving Broadway producer and his meek accountant plan to profit from charming wealthy old biddies to invest in an overbudget production, and then put on a sure-fire disaster, so nobody will ask for their money back — and what's more disastrous than a tasteless musical celebrating Adolf Hitler.
Instead of a typical rags-to-riches tale, this farce celebrates the art of the spectacular failure. Two desperate schemers attempt to bankroll a Broadway flop so offensive that it guarantees a profit through sheer investor outrage.
