The extraordinary true legend of Ann Lee, founder of the devotional sect known as the Shakers, who preached gender and social equality and was revered by her followers as the female Christ.
Eighteenth-century religious fervor meets a radical vision of equality as a charismatic woman rises to lead a devoted sect. This period drama transforms a niche historical footnote into a sweeping, melodic portrait of social rebellion.
