About
You can watch The Wages of Fear (1953) on Kanopy with a participating library card.
In a run-down South American town, four men are paid to drive trucks loaded with nitroglycerin into the jungle through to the oil field. Friendships are tested and rivalries develop as they embark upon the perilous journey.
Most thrillers rely on fast pacing, but this tension builds through the agonizingly slow movement of trucks over crumbling mountain paths. Every pothole and sudden jolt threatens to detonate the volatile cargo, turning a simple delivery into a suffocating exercise in pure dread.
